The first row!

17/9/2011

Well, almost a month has passed already since my first post - I've been in spinning and wool world nearly all the time.

I bought the wheel which I spoke about in my first post and started spinning almost straightaway - I waited until it had had a little fettle - a bit of beeswax and a little  maintenance - and a couple of hours later, I started and I don't think I've really stopped since.  I have spun more than 3 miles of yarn of all kinds and thicknesses, from rustic natural coloured jacobs all the way to brightly coloured merino/silk mixes.  I've been knitting it up as well.  I have some welshblack/tussah silk mix which I spun into about a mile of laceweight 2 ply and am busy knitting up a lace shawl and it's lovely to work with.

I have also updated the site here, with my patterns for the recycled silks and for all the Shetland stuff being now available in French as well as English.

Check out here for an explosion of colour in recycled silks which are now available for sale.

Finally I have bamboo circular knitting needles for sale at £3 for 40/50 cm long and £3.50 for 120 cms long, in sizes from 3.5 to 6mm (including all half sizes), prices include postage and packing.  If you want to order needles, go to this page and make your selections.  I aim to ship all orders in 24 hours of cleared payment (with Paypal).  (Except if you order on a Saturday, when I can't get to the post until Monday!!)

I've been knitting and designing for a long time and don't think I'm going to stop anytime soon.  The inspiration just keeps coming, there is always a new technique to learn, a new yarn to try out and so many knitters out there in the world sharing their tips and secrets that it's sometimes hard to know what to do next.
