June is (supposed to be) bursting out allover - but it's still cool here!

A selection of handspun yarns made from my lovely spinning fibres - on sale at all the events listed below.
As usual, click on the coloured text for links to external websites for more information about the events and how to get to them.

After a very cool (some might say freezing cold) May, we are finally getting some warmer weather.  We walked to the beach this morning and the Brownies were there, learning to surf - can you believe it - we just got to do sedate stuff like knitting(!!) when I was a Brownie, ah well, times change...

We had a great time at the Highland Wool Festival in Dingwall last Saturday and met lots of lovely wool enthusiasts.  Thank you to all to all the organisers and volunteers who made the event such a success for everyone who came.  We are looking forward to coming back next year!  We also had a grand tour of the Highlands whilst we were up north - we travelled to Skye, up to Ullapool, through Assynt (my favourite bit) and on to Durness for a night camping overlooking Sango Sands - next stop the Arctic(!) - then on to John O’Groats (because you have to) down to the Cairngorms via the west coast road and Inverness, a night camping in Rothiemurchus near Aviemore and then home via Balmoral… a nice round 1000 miles of driving in stunning countryside and what a difference in landscapes from top to bottom, left to right.  We managed to see Golden Eagles, Osprey, Red Kites and heard our first cuckoo in Braemar - wonderful.

Here are the diary dates for June - hopefully we will catch up with you somewhere.  You can always get in touch with me using the contact form here if you want to find out more about anything on the website, or to order anything.

Friday 5th June between 10am and 4pm at the Ebba Centre, St Abbs for the regular Friday market- we saw dolphins today (29th May) swimming around Seagull Rock, as they are regular visitors all year, why not come along and see if you can spot some too!  The kittiwakes and guillemots are all nesting on the cliffs at the moment and you can see them quite clearly from the telescope in the Visitor Centre.
Saturday 6th June between 10am and 4pm at the Guild Hall on Marygate, Berwick upon Tweed for the Berwick 900 Craft Fair.  This is part of the Berwick 900 festival with events taking place all this year, to celebrate the 900th year of the City of Berwick.
Sunday 7th June between 9.30am and 4.30pm at the Heavy Horse Festival at the Etal Showground on the Ford & Etal Estate.  This is the 3rd annual event centred around this magnificent horses, with a craft tent and local produce on sale and lots of demonstrations all day.
Friday 12th & 19th June between 10am and 4pm at the Ebba Centre, St Abbs for the regular Friday market in sunny St Abbs.
Friday 26th June between 10am and 6pm & Saturday 27th June between 10am and 5pm at Woolfest, Cumbria for the 11th wonderful woolly celebration of wool crafts and fibre feast.  We are in stand K277 so come along and see us - we have a lovely big space this year, so there’s plenty of room for everyone to get to the fibre and yarn space and the button table and too!

I’ve stocked up with plenty of colourful spinning and felting tops, lots of natural tops from different breeds of sheep and some lovely carded batts too.  There are handspun yarns galore, lightweight bamboo knitting needles (straight and circulars) and blingy, bright, shiny & colourful aluminium crochet hooks too.  I'll also have some handmade garments and accessories on sale.

The sea is green, Milldown beach, 26/4/2015
The sea at Milldown beach is so variable - this time it looks just like my spinning and felting fibres "The sea is green".   I've spun lovely yarns and done some felting with these fibres and they look great - photos to follow....

and so to the diary dates for May 2015.  We are up and down the country this month, from over the border and Hadrians Wall dipping into England, then later we go as far to the north-west as we can on mainland Scotland  - up to Cape Wrath....can't wait!

For all events, just click on the coloured text to find more information.
Wednesday 6th May - 10am to 4pm at the Duns food and craft fair at the Volunteer Hall in Duns - lots of lovely local produce and hand made crafts plus a cup of tea and probably a scone...

Thursday 28th May craft and local producers market  - between 10am and 4pm at the Heatherslaw Mill on the Ford Estate in Northumberland. There are celebrations this year for the mill, with over 700 years of history there will be plenty going on.

I've been knitting and designing for a long time and don't think I'm going to stop anytime soon.  The inspiration just keeps coming, there is always a new technique to learn, a new yarn to try out and so many knitters out there in the world sharing their tips and secrets that it's sometimes hard to know what to do next.
