Just a very small note to say thank you to everyone who came to make the day a great success. I've put some photographs of The Woolscape Project on the festival page - just click on the coloured text to go straight there.
We are already planning the next one and will announce the date soon - watch this space... Diary datesAs usual click on the coloured text to link to websites for events.
It's the St Abbs Wool Festival on Saturday, so we are gearing up for that at the moment. We will be setting up the Woolscape Project in the Visitor Centre in St Abbs tomorrow, ready for unveiling on Saturday. Our first outing in November will be on Saturday 1st November, at Alnmouth, the Hindmarsh Hall for the Sheep Tales wool fair. All the regulars will be there, along with some newer faces, so you'll have time to stock up on lovely yarns and fibres and all other lovely woolly things in time for the festive season....to make things for your families and friends! - They'd better have been good enough to deserve it though!!! A new venue for us on Tuesday 4th November is at the Bluebell Hotel in Belford, just off the A1 near Lindisfarne. The St Abbs market traders are "popping up" between 10am and 3pm. Friday 7th sees us firstly at St Abbs in the Ebba Centre for the usual Friday market, then it's a quick pack up and drive over to The Flat Cat Gallery in Lauder for their open evening. Saturday 8th we are whizzing down the A1 and across the A69 to Hexham for the Winter Wool Fair where we will be having a Great British Wool extravaganza. Tuesday 11th sees us once more at Wooler in the Cheviot Centre for a St Abbs market traders popup market between 10am and 3pm. Friday 15th we are back at St Abbs in the Ebba Centre between 10am and 3pm - our new winter opening hours take note! Wednesday 19th we are at Duns in the Volunteer Hall for the Duns Christmas market - there, I've said it! - between 10am and 4pm. Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd we are at St Abbs in the Ebba Centre for the Christmas market - I said it again - there are so many of us coming together for the market that some stalls are going to be across the road in the Visitor Centre too. Friday 28th back to St Abbs and the our last date in November is the 30th at the Lady Waterford Hall in Ford & Etal for their Christmas bash - a lovely traditional affair with lots going on. That brings us into December and nearly time to stop - our only dates are the 5th, 12th and 19th at St Abbs for our regular market, then we shut up shop, put our feet up and take a little time to recover from our busiest year to date. We had a really fantastic September and met so many people, in fact we've had a great year getting around to all the different fairs and festivals. I'm still astounded by the number of people who turn up at all these events - it really puts paid to the myth that this is a "dying art"! When we are sitting knitting outside in the sunshine during our workshops at St Abbs, when folk say this to me, I just have to let them know about the thousands of folk who turn up to Woolfest and Yarndale and they are quite impressed! Anyway, the travelling season is drawing to a close, but we still have a few things to do before we can put our feet up. I'm going to be revamping the website over winter and changing it around a bit, so please keep coming back to see what's new. I'll also be putting up news about some woolly workshops and other things too... Next up - the St. Abbs Wool Festival poster is now available to download and put up everywhere (yaaay!)Diary dates for OctoberAs usual, for more information about any of these events, just click on the coloured text to link through to websites.
We've already been to Duns on the 1st October, then had a workshop at St Abbs today (the 2nd) then tomorrow the 3rd October it's the regular St Abbs Friday Market at the Ebba Centre. Saturday 5th we are at Berwick Buttermarket - underneath the Town Hall between 9am and 4pm. Thursday is the weekly Woolscape Project workshop in the St Abbs Visitor Centre where we will once more be creating something wonderful in wool. If you want to come along, just get in touch with the Visitor Centre and leave your name and a contact number. Then next week we are off to the Kendal Wool Gathering for the whole weekend. It promises to be even bigger and better than last year's event so do come and see what's happening. When we get back, it's straight down the road for a pop up market at Wooler in the Cheviot Centre on Tuesday 14th October, with the St Abbs market crew between 10am and 3pm. Thursday 15th is the last workshop before the Wool festival, so it's your last chance to join in the creativity! Friday 16th and 24th are the Friday markets at the Ebba Centre in St Abbs between 10am and 4pm. Saturday 25th is the St Abbs Wool Festival in St Abbs where we have so many stall holders we have taken over both the Ebba Centre and the Visitor Centre and crammed them full of woolly loveliness for you all to enjoy. Please download the poster at the top of this page, print it out and put it up for everyone to see - even if it's only on your fridge - but then think of somewhere that would look so much better with a beautiful poster! A quick note about November as we are having a Sheep Tales event at the Hindmarsh Hall in Alnmouth on the 1st November between 10am and 4pm and I won't get the chance to put it on the listing for next month. |
JennieI've been knitting and designing for a long time and don't think I'm going to stop anytime soon. The inspiration just keeps coming, there is always a new technique to learn, a new yarn to try out and so many knitters out there in the world sharing their tips and secrets that it's sometimes hard to know what to do next.
