We have revamped the studio and are ready to open the doors on Monday 15th June. With lots of hand spun yarns, clouds of spinning and felting fibres, some new super coil necklaces, a few scarves and throws, hats & cowls - and always the buttons!  
As space is limited, only members of one household at a time will be invited in, but there are lots of other lovely places planning to open on Bridge Street too, so there is always somewhere to browse. Take out tea, coffee and food from the Mule on Rouge to sustain you all. 
Back to normal hours, after Monday, so that will be from Tuesday to Saturday, 10 to 4.

Like every other trader who has a physical shop  Skybluepink Designs are closed for the foreseeable future due to the Corona Virus outbreak.  Whilst it gives me a chance to spin up  yarn ready for re-opening in the hopefully not too distant future, we hope that everyone is keeping well and looking after themselves - and crafting of course!  
I miss the day to day interaction with everyone who drops by, but am looking forward to the day when we get back to some kind of real life with personal contact and friendly interactions once more.
Meanwhile, I have been updating my online store at www.skybluepink-designs.co.uk with new yarns and fibres, so please drop by to see what’s in stock.  I also have some new patterns for sale to go with the yarns if you fancy knitting something new.  Most patterns can be used with several weights of yarn and the cowls and one colour hats use just one skein.  The two colour items use two skeins, but you will have plenty to make a hat and a scarf.
I am in the process of sorting out an easy way of putting information on each yarn to say what it is suitable for making, but please use the contact form here if you want to find out more about what goes with what.   Some nice photos in the meantime with captions showing yarn amounts required to make.

We are open Christmas Eve from around 9am to 5pm, mince pies on the counter(!) We are then closing for a few days, although I will be popping in to get a wool fix during the first week of January, returning full time to the Studio on Bridge Street on the 7th January.

Woolly soiree!
As the opening of Jennie's Wool Studio on Bridge Street was almost as much of a surprise to me as it was to anyone else, we never celebrated the opening in May - and it's been a bit hectic so far to try to do anything by way of a "grand opening".
As the festive season has arrived, we think a little party is in order!
The studio will be open from 10am on Saturday 7th December, with refreshments (light bites and beverages - including a wee tipple) served from 5pm to 7.30pm. If you have already paid us a visit we'd love to see you again and if you haven't, then you will be most welcome to join us.
If you drop me a line to say you are coming we will make sure to have enough refreshments to go around!
By way of thank you for your support, there will be 10% discount on all sales all day!
We hope to see as many of you as can make it.

Things are settling down now at the Studio on Bridge Street, the store room is mostly sorted out, the classroom/workshop is getting there too - and the shop part is buzzing with lots of people visiting.  I am getting some time to spin as well.  
I know that there are spinners in and around Berwick upon Tweed, so I would like to invite you - and those from further afield too - to join an informal spinning group, meeting on alternate Tuesday mornings at my studio.  Please bring your wheels and fluff (no raw fleece though thank you!) and I will have tea, coffee etc., to whet your whistles.  Just drop a line to my email or message me through the contact form here.  See you Tuesday!

At last, we are open at 48 Bridge Street, Berwick upon Tweed.  We turned the space around in a week and opened the doors on Wednesday last week.  We will be open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm.  We had a wonderful first week with lots of folk turning up, some we know and lots of new faces.  We will be having an opening party in a couple of weeks time, when we have sorted out all the spaces and not just the front room!  Meanwhile, here are some photos to show you what we look like (although we have already had a little move-around...).  We look forward to welcoming you in.

Obviously this means a re-arrangement of my schedule this year, so I won't be taking part in the St Abbs Market or Paxton House markets this year.  I have really enjoyed taking part in these regular events and I hope that you will continue to support them.  You will be able to visit me in my studio on Bridge Street, Berwick upon Tweed 5 days a week!

I have a few events lined up for the year, so I will post them all here in the same place.  Get out your diaries and see if we can meet up sometime, somewhere!

I promise to put up some nice photos in my next post - and fairly soon.

To start with, I will have regular dates at both St Abbs Market in St Abbs on the first and third Friday of the month starting in April (but not the first Friday... as that's the day before St Abbs Wool Festival and that takes a lot of getting ready for.
A newer event will be a pop up market each Tuesday from the beginning of May until the end of September at Paxton House.  They have a wonderfully situated marquee on the lawn overlooking the River Tweed which will be open for the market between 10am and 4pm.  

To start with though, the first event is on Saturday 2nd March as guests of the Haddington Spinners for their Open Day in the Poldrate Mill, Haddington.  There will be an exhibition of work by the group, you can sign up for courses, bring your wheel or spindle and spin with the group, see what's on the sale table - oh, yes, if memory serves me correctly, there is a table full of home made baking to nibble....

On Sunday 3rd March we are at the Borders Organic Gardeners Potato Day in Springwood Hall at the Showground in Kelso.  There you can buy all your seed potatoes, garlic bulbs, onion sets and shallots ready to plant as well as browsing around the green fair to see what's available.  A great event with a real buzz about it.

The following weekend, we are travelling up to Dornoch for the 10th Dornoch Fibre Festival on the 9th and 10th March.  A lovely local festival with two venues and the whole town waking up to springtime and woolly visitors.  Lots of workshops, a Shetland Sheep Day on the Friday and fresh homemaking throughout the weekend.

On the 19th March we are taking a demo stand to the Alnwick Tourism Fair in the Sports Centre at Alniwick to promote the St Abbs Wool Festival.  As well as business networking, you can pop along, pick up a poster or some postcards and say hello.  You can also check out what else is happening in the region this year.  Between 10am and 2.30pm.

Saturday the 6th April is the St Abbs Wool Festival in Eyemouth and we are busy already preparing for that!  With lots of local crafters and a few exhibitors from farther afield we hope you will join us in our celebration of wool in all its forms.

In May - Wednesday the 8th - I will be hosting a workshop in the Textile Tower House in Hawick - Fair Isle Knitting.  So if you fancy trying your hand, come and join us.  Limited places.

On Sunday the 19th May there is a destash day in the Village Hall at Foulden, (near Berwick upon Tweed for those not familiar with the area).  I will be taking along lots of old stock and bargains galore!  So will everyone else!

On the 8th June we are going up to Letham in  Fife for the GWSD Open Day

We got confirmation yesterday that we are going to Wool Fest in Cockermouth on the 28th and 29th June, so we pack the camping gear and get ready to escape to the wonderful Lakeland for a few days.

I will start with diary dates as I'm already behind schedule!
I was hoping for a quiet summer but something always comes along to change my mind.  A lot of different events this year, with trunk shows and pop ups, not so many big shows, I'm staying local if I can!
Fridays 3rd & 17th August at the regular St Abbs Market in the Ebba Centre, between 10am and 4pm.  I can't say often enough what a great place it is to visit.
Saturdays 4th & 18th August more visits to Seams Sew in Dunbar for a trunk show and mini crochet workshops with hand spun yarns.  I take all my stock to Sheena's little shop on the High Street in Dunbar and we set up as a wool shop for the day.  All my yarns, buttons, fibres, needles etc to browse in a new location. Between 10am and 3pm.
Sunday 19th August at the Cheviot Centre in Wooler for a destash day - I will be taking all my old stock and some things that don't usually come out to smaller events, so a chance to pick up a Skybluepink Designs bargain or two!
Monday 27th August sees us at the Glendale Show, Wooler in the Countryside Tent.  The best Agricultural Show around, so friendly, so much to see and do.  And the weather is always splendid!
Tuesdays, 7th, 14th 21st & 28th August, 4th & 11th September too!  More visits to Paxton House with the St Abbs Market crew.  The venue is bigger than at the Ebba Centre, so there are more stalls to see.  Between 10am and 3pm in the Marquee on the lawn by the big house!
Saturday 1st September is the Alnmouth Wool Festival in the Hindmarsh Hall in Alnmouth, organised by the Sheep Tales Group.  Between 10am and 4pm.  Alnmouth is a lovely place to visit to, great beaches and bird life. 
Between the 20th and 22nd September Skybluepink Designs are travelling overseas to take part in the Strikkefestival in Fano, Denmark.  Needless to say we are really looking forward to this event!  10,000 knitters and woolly minded folk (meant in the nicest possible way!) on a beautiful island on the west coast of Denmark.
