August already...

4/8/2013

...and still spinning!
We had a great time at the Border Union Show last weekend, lots of woolly exhibitions and a fashion show too boot!  It had to be the hottest day of the summer in Kelso and the poor models were having to quick change into a succession of lovely warm woolly things and still managing to look uber-cool! Well done them.
I'm going to be busy turning up all over the place this month so here's my schedule for August:

Thursday 8th August at Etal Village Hall for the pop-up producers market arranged by the St Abbs market group.  Between 11am and 3pm, catch the steam train from Heatherslaw to see us!

Friday 9th August at St Abbs for the producers market in the Ebba Centre between 10am and 4pm, have a walk around St Abbs village, the harbour and maybe even out to the lighthouse, it's glorious.

Saturday 10th August spinning in the Craft Marquee, at the North Berwick Highland Games at North Berwick in East Lothian.  Traditional Highland Games, Scottish Dancing and a Pipe Band competition with bands coming from all over the world to compete - more than 70 bands last year.  Event opens around 9am and closes at about 5-ish...

Friday 16th August once more at St Abbs for the producers market in the Ebba Centre between 10am and 4pm.

Friday 23rd August regular spot at St Abbs!

Saturday 24th August at Kelso Farmers' market in the square between 9 am and 1.30 pm.  Lots of wonderful locally produced goods.

Friday 30th August back to St Abbs again for the local market.

For September, I will be at St Abbs most Fridays, then on the 14th September there is a craft fair in Berwick upon Tweed, just over the border in England, more about that later, then at the end of September there is the first ever yarn festival in Skipton, Yorkshire - Yarndale - which is on for the whole weekend - that's 28th and 29th September - there are a couple of hundred stall holders  - from independent small producers like me to the bigger names in woolly world, there will be classes and demonstrations too and probably sheep!  More details on the website and facebook pages of Yarndale.

In view of this schedule, I think I need to get back to my spinning wheel now....

I've been knitting and designing for a long time and don't think I'm going to stop anytime soon.  The inspiration just keeps coming, there is always a new technique to learn, a new yarn to try out and so many knitters out there in the world sharing their tips and secrets that it's sometimes hard to know what to do next.
